The ACME Hotel, located at 15 E Ohio St in Chicago, had a big problem. The main sewer was broken and waste water was leaking from a break into the ground in front of the hotel and was seeping back into the basement through the foundation wall.
To make matters more troublesome, the building is very old. It was built back in the 1920s as was the main sewer made of vitrified clay tile. It was crumbling and cracking going from the front of the building all the way across Ohio street.
