Sewer Pipe Relining and Your Home
Sewer pipe relining consists on repairing the pipes from the inside. The first step consists of having the sewer line video inspected. Using a tiny video camera that sends a live HD feed to a monitor, we can check the interior condition of the pipes. This allows us to verify if the pipes are salvageable or if they are too damaged and need to be replaced. It also lets us see if there are root intrusions or any other debris that is clogging the line, and pinpoints the exact location of where the repairs need to be made.
Once the video inspection is completed, we need to clean out the pipes. Using special nozzles which deliver a high-pressure stream of water we flush away any sludge, roots, and mineral buildups, leaving them ready for the relining process.
A felt liner is measured and cut to the exact dimensions of the repair that needs to be done. This liner is saturated in a unique epoxy formula and then inserted into the pipe. Once it is in place, a bladder is inflated, which makes the liner take the shape of the pipe. After a few hours, the epoxy cures and hardens, and the bladder is removed, leaving behind a rock-solid line which completely seals any cracks and covers broken pipe pieces.
This lining process has many advantages: the materials used are non-toxic and eco-friendly, it is extremely durable – you can expect over 50 years of usage, and can be completed in a few hours. It is also less expensive than digging up the pipes the old-fashioned way.
